One of Pettigrew's most notable characteristics as an architect is his commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. He believes that architecture should not only be aesthetically pleasing but also function in harmony with the natural environment. This philosophy is evident in his projects, which  since 1988 have incorporated green building practices; solar design, energy-efficient materials, potable water production,  treatment of waste water, curated landscaping with indigenous plants and the application of  tropical architectural principles. He has personally supported the establishment of workshops, factories and artisanal communities in many Countries whose products he helps design and then uses to create a unique style. Vision and Commitment

Central America

For the last 10 years, Lane has focused on the  Western Caribbean, particularly the coastal areas of Central America. " I was fortunate to work with the best sites in the Eastern Caribbean, during my early career” he comments, “and I asked myself a question: What’s the next challenge? Where can I create some new destinations that would help the local economy and people? Where is that next spot? "  The Western Caribbean, particularly the coastal areas of Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Belize became his focus. LPA have now completed large developments such as Brisas Juan Gavotte and La Mar in Guatemala, the Kimpton Grand Roatan in Honduras and will be completing  many more tropical projects in the next 5 years. The LPA main office is based in Guatemala City, with associated offices in Honduras and St. Lucia.
